Face Green Mountain in elimination game
HAVERHILL, Mass. – It’s do or die now for the Fitchburg Huskies.
The Huskies are one game away from being eliminated from the Empire League Playoffs after falling to No. 2 New Hampshire, 4-1, Friday night in the double-elimination tournament in Haverhill.
Fitchburg plays No. 4 Green Mountain at 8 a.m. Saturday in an elimination game.
Fitchburg goalie Matt Snell was solid in net for the Huskies, turning away 38 shots, but the offense just couldn’t find the back of the net.
Jim Delaney netted Fitchburg’s lone goal – a short-handed, unassisted tally in the second period.
“Snell played very well but we didn’t play 60 minutes,” Fitchburg coach Tim Pelletier said. “(Saturday) is going to be a tough game if we don’t play for 60 minutes.”
Fitchburg fell to 17-22-2 overall, while New Hampshire is now 33-4-2.
